KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Malaysia's health ministry reported 3,245 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 2,813,934.

According to data posted on the health ministry's website, the new illnesses included 274 imported cases and 2,971 local transmissions. A total of nine deaths have been reported as a result of the epidemic, increasing the total death toll to 31,818, according to the state news report. The ministry of health also announced 3,093 fresh Covid recoveries, increasing the total number of recoveries to 2,741,355.

In Malaysia, there are now 40,761 active cases, 183 of whom are in intensive care units and 84 of whom require assisted breathing. On Tuesday, the country gave out 129,597 vaccine doses. A total of 79.7% of the population has had at least one dosage, 78.6% have been fully vaccinated, and 29.8% have had a booster dose.
