Maldives chief justice threatened to life, President Yameen disapproved SC order

Dubai [U.A.E.], Feb. 05 (NT): In an immense puff to democratic system and civilian ruling in the Maldives, President Mohammed Yameen  has put the army on alert and turned down to go behind the orders of the Supreme Court to recall dismissed 12 opposition Members if Parliament or permit the release of other seized prisoners.

Before on Sunday, Chief Justice Hassan Saeed discarded the government's appeal for evaluation, saying the latter has to first execute the top court's order and only then hunt for a review.

With the political tight spot in the Maldives showing no signs of dwindling, the chief justice has allegedly also got threats to his life via unidentified telephone calls.

Panic for his life, the chief justice has taken protection in the Supreme Court and spending the night there along with Justice Ali Handed and Judicial Administrator Hassan Saeed.

On Sunday evening, opposition Members of Parliament held a joint conference and took decision to lead a massive protest in opposition to President Mohammed Yameen ad Demanding justice and a return of the rule of law, they called for the instantaneous release of all political detainees.

An unlimited terror has wrapped up the island, in expectation of a major face-off.
