New Delhi: Another witness related to the 2008 Malegaon blast case retracted his statement during a court hearing on Tuesday. He told the court that ATS had forced him to name Yogi Adityanath. The 15th witness retracts his statement. In fact, during the hearing on Tuesday, the witness told the Special NIA Court that he was tortured a lot by the then investigating agency ATS in the case.

The witness said in court that the ATS had forced him to name Yogi Adityanath and 4 others from RSS. 220 people have testified so far in the Malegaon blast case. ATS was investigating the case before it was handed over to the NIA. Earlier in August, a witness who made a statement against Lt Col Purohit had also reversed his statement during the hearing. ATS was investigating the case, the witness said that in 2008 he had participated in an "adventure camp", where Pakistan's role in the spread of terrorism in India and weakening the country through liquids and the counterfeit currency was discussed.

In his statement at the time, the witness had said that Lt Col Prasad Purohit, one of the seven accused in the case, had delivered a speech at the event. The witness said that although it was called an "adventure camp," nothing like that was taught there. Later, while recording his testimony before the court, the witness refused to make any such statement, after which Special Judge P R Shitre declared him a traitor.
