New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has said that efforts will be made to convince Rahul Gandhi to take over as the party president. He has said that apart from Rahul, there is no leader in the party who has an appeal all over the country. Kharge further said that anyone willing to lead the party should go all over the country and get support from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and West Bengal to Gujarat. The Congress leader said that the Congress President should be a well-known, accepted person in the entire party. But apart from Rahul, there is no such leader in the party.

Rahul Gandhi, whom Mallikarjun Kharge is calling an acceptable and popular leader, has been called 'childish' and immature by Ghulam Nabi Azad, who has been in Congress for 50 years. Although Azad has said goodbye to the Congress, he wanted a fair election for the post of party president from the time he was in the party, so that a qualified person gets this post through elections. At the same time, most of the current Congress leaders are engaged in persuading Rahul Gandhi, who is not convinced to take over the post of president. Let me tell you that after the embarrassing defeat of the Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of President, since then his mother Sonia Gandhi has been taking charge as the interim President of the party.

Now Mallikarjun Kharge has said that all senior leaders had "forced" Sonia Gandhi to join the party and work and urged Rahul Gandhi to come out and fight. At the same time, Kharge has also asked, 'You tell me the option.' On reports that Rahul Gandhi was not ready to take up the post, Kharge said efforts would be made to convince him. He will be asked to take charge for the sake of the party, for the sake of the country, to fight the RSS-BJP and to keep the country united.
