Kolkata: Assembly elections are due in 2021 in West Bengal, but a few months before that, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has started giving her speech. She said on Thursday, 'Health Partner' health scheme run by the state government will be benefited to every family and person of the state from December 1, 2020.' While comparing the 'Health Partner' with the Centre's scheme 'Ayushman Bharat', Mamata said, 'Central scheme is implemented in 60:40 ratio with the states, while on' Health Partner ' West Bengal Government bears the entire financial expenditure for the coming years.'

She also said while speaking to reporters, "Earlier we had decided to give benefits to at least 7.5 crore people under 'Swasthya Sathi'. Today I declare that under this scheme, every family, every person, elderly, child or woman of West Bengal will get benefits under this scheme, irrespective of their religion. She added, "For Ayushman India, the central government gives only 60%. Who will give the remaining 40%? If the common man had to pay 2.5 lakh rupees for the insurance of five lakhs, then why would he get such insurance. Our Swasthya Sathi Yojana is fully funded by the government.

Further extending her point, she said, 'If they want to bear the full expenses of Ayushman Bharat, then they should run it. Why don't they do this? A smart card will be given to each family to take advantage of the scheme. Under this, all government and private hospitals of the state have been included. Under this scheme formally launched by Mamata Banerjee in December 2016, people will get an insurance cover of five lakh rupees per year.
