New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won a landslide victory in the results of the West Bengal assembly elections. Though the TMC defeated the BJP in the assembly elections, state CM Mamata Banerjee has lost the Nandigram seat. Nandigram, considered to be the hottest seat in West Bengal, looked the same as it was speculated. Initially, it was not clear whether the Shubendu officer had won from Nandigram or Mamata Banerjee. Tell us that the news agency ANI had earlier claimed victory by Mamata Banerjee, but mamata banerjee herself accepted her defeat in the press conference on Sunday evening.
Amidst all this, a tweet from TMC made the win-lose in Nandigram even more misleading when the party said counting was still going on. If Mamata Banerjee has lost to Nandigram, the question now arises whether Mamata Banerjee will continue CM? However, electoral experts say she will definitely take over the command of West Bengal once again. Speaking of india's three most populous states, CM Nitish Kumar, Yogi Adityanath and Uddhav Thackeray are all members of legislative councils of their respective states, but are not part of the Legislative Assembly. Simply put, he has not won the assembly elections to become cm. Out of these, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is the only Chief Minister who contested the assembly elections 36 years ago.
Let me tell you, Article 164 of the Constitution says that a minister who does not belong to a state legislature for six consecutive months cannot become a minister after the expiry of this deadline. This means Mamata Banerjee has 6 months to become an MP. In West Bengal, since there is no Legislative Council, Mamata Banerjee will have to file her nomination from an empty seat within 6 months and win the by-election and become an MP.
