Kolkata: The Chief Ministers of the three states of Punjab, West Bengal and Kerala have declared the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) against the Constitution and declared not to implement it in their respective states. Let us tell you that President Ramnath Kovind has signed and approved this bill, after which it has now taken the form of law.

Congress veteran and Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has termed both CAB and National Register for Citizens (NRC) as wrong. Amarinder Singh has said that Punjab will not accept this bill under any circumstances, because it is also against the spirit of democracy like NRC. He said that it will not be implemented in Punjab. It is noteworthy that a long part of the India-Pakistan border comes from the border Punjab.

The main route to go from India to Pakistan and from Pakistan to India also passes through Punjab and this is the way hundreds of minority refugees have come to India. Many of these refugee families are still living in Punjab. On the other hand, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has also said that Kerala will not implement CAB. With this, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee said in Kharagpur that, under my rule, this bill will not be applicable to the people in the state.
