Guwahati: There has been uproar since the release of the final list of the National Registration of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. The names of 19 lakh people have been removed from the list, after which the government has faced severe criticism. Even some BJP leaders in the state criticized it and claimed that many Bengali Hindus were removed from the list, which is the party's core voter group.
After this, now West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has raised the issue of NRC during the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. She drew attention to 19 lakh people, many of whom are 'real voters'. Not only this, Mamata Banerjee told Amit Shah that NRC is not required in West Bengal like Assam. According to sources, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said that "I have given a letter to Amit Shah, telling him that out of the 19 lakh people who were left out of the list, a lot of them are Hindi-speaking, Bengali-speaking and local people. It should be noted".
Let us tell you that West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had also met PM Narendra Modi earlier, but he said that the NRC was not discussed in the meeting with him, because it was a meeting of the 'Government of the Government' and only development related issues were discussed.
