Kolkata: The Election Commission took the entire matter seriously after West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee appealed for votes during a religiously based rally and then complained about it by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Election Commission issued a notice to Mamata Banerjee on Thursday. At the same time, Mamata has been given 48 hours to respond on behalf of the Election Commission.

On the other hand, after a notice from the Election Commission, the Chief Minister of West Bengal lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing it of selling the country. She said, "You've sold the country. You've asked the national media to lie about me. You have filed a complaint against me." Mamata said, "Why was no complaint made against Narendra Modi and BJP leaders when he spoke about Hindu-Muslims? Why was no complaint lodged against them? Mamata Banerjee is for Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians."

Mamata Banerjee further said, "I respect the central forces. But I have zero respect for those who are puppets of the BJP and try to scare mothers and sisters so that they vote for the BJP. She told the Election Commission, "Don't listen to Amit Shah. Don't listen to us, too. But do your job properly."
