Kolkata: While the Trinamool Congress (TMC) protested in Parliament over the removal of Section 370 and Article 35A granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir, party supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has now broken the silence on the issue. Reacting to this for the first time on Tuesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that we neither support nor oppose the removal of Section 370 from Kashmir.
It is worth mentioning here that Mamata Banerjee, who opposes the GST, was silent in every major decision of the central government like demonetisation, GST, and now even when she has made a statement, she has not expressed any opposition to the government's decision. Mamata Banerjee, who opposes the GST, has not directly opposed the decision, but has expressed her intentions in gestures.
Mamata said former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah have been detained. They are not terrorists. They should be released. Mamata said the government should have interacted with the local people before removing Section 370 from Kashmir. Farooq Abdullah was also not disclosed in this regard. On the other hand, his party MP Derek O'Brien has said that it is a deliberate strategy of the BJP to destroy the peace and prosperity of Kashmir and the party will not support it. Not only that, rajya Sabha members of TMC abstained from voting and staged a walkout.
