Kolkata: West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee will address the Oxford Union Debate at around 2.30 pm today. She is the first Indian woman leader and administrative head to address this forum. This program will be conducted virtually only.

The Oxford Union Society, also commonly known as the Oxford Union, is a debating society in the city of Oxford, England, whose membership is primarily drawn from Oxford University. Established in 1823, it is one of Britain's oldest university unions. Oxford Union exists independently of the University and Oxford University is distinct from the Students' Union.

Oxford Union has a tradition of hosting some of the world's most prominent figures in politics, education and popular culture, including US President Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, British PM Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher, David Cameron and Theresa include Pakistani PM Imran Khan, activists Malcolm X, the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa, Hollywood actors Morgan Freeman, musicians Sir Elton John and Michael Jackson, and players Diego Maradona and Manny Pacquiao.
