New Delhi: CM Mamata Banerjee is on a visit to New Delhi for the first time after registering a landslide victory in the West Bengal assembly elections. Mamata Banerjee had met PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday. CM Mamata will now meet several opposition leaders on Wednesday, including the name of interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

CM Banerjee is scheduled to meet Rankpa chief Sharad Pawar and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal besides Sonia Gandhi today. Mamata Banerjee's meetings are being linked to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the opposition is trying to unite against PM Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Mamata Banerjee has recently defeated the BJP, with it believed that this time the Opposition led by Mamata may take on the BJP at the Centre in the next Lok Sabha elections.

Mamata Banerjee is in New Delhi for about a week. She had met Congress leaders Anand Sharma and Kamal Nath on Tuesday. She also had a meeting with political strategist Prashant Kishore. Mamata Banerjee had then met PM Modi on Tuesday evening in which she placed before PM Modi several other issues including the corona vaccine. This was PM Modi and Mamata Banerjee's first meeting after the Assembly elections in Bengal. The Bengal elections had seen a fierce war of words between the two.
