Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep grief over the incident involving the crushing death of several people who were passing goods trains on Friday morning on the railway track in Aurangabad, Maharashtra amid lockdown and corona crisis. Mamta tweeted, 'I am deeply saddened to hear of the terrible incident involving the goods train running over innocent migrants in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. My deepest condolences to the families of the dead. May God give peace to their soul. Pray for the early recovery of the injured.
For your information, let us tell you that in this train accident 14 migrant workers were crushed to death. In this incident, 2 workers were seriously injured, who are undergoing treatment. All these workers were residents of Umaria and Shahdol districts of Madhya Pradesh who were returning to their homes. All the laborers left from Jalna at night to board the special train leaving from Aurangabad station and these people slept on the track for some rest in the morning due to fatigue while walking on the tracks. Meanwhile, at around 5:15 am, a freight train from behind took all the workers into its grip.
Apart from this, the government has got a big relief from the High Court in the face of the ongoing tussle with the Governor over the appointment of the current Mayor Firhad Hakim as the Administrator in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) by the Bengal government. The Calcutta High Court has directed the Board of Administrators constituted by the state government to run as a caretaker for a month. A writ petition was filed against this appointment in the High Court on Thursday, on which the High Court has given this interim instruction while hearing. The High Court refused to stay the appointment of the administrator.
