On these days while the world is fighting against coronavirus and here in India the Covid-19 restrictions were eased by the West Bengal govt on Saturday. It can host weddings with up to 200 people at a time. Fairs and melas will be permitted in open spaces.
In a notification issued on January 15, the statement said, "...after a review of the current situation of Covid-19 pandemic and the concerns due to the new Covid-19 variant “Omicron”, the State Executive Committee of West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority recommended to continue with the current restrictions in force and allow graded relaxations as necessary."
It also needed the use of masks in order to maintain physical distance. The district administration, police commissioners, and local governments have been instructed to ensure that the directives properly adhere.
"Any violation of the restriction measures would be prosecuted under the terms of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as well as the Indian Penal Code," according to the statement. The order was issued after the state electoral board postponed elections in four municipal corporations because to the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
