West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo, Mamta Banerjee has accused Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating voters’ list and winning the elections. She Has alleged that the BJP has “enrolled fake voters” from Haryana and Gujarat to win recently held assembly elections of Maharashtra and Delhi. Further stating that it was all with the “help of Election Commission.”

Mamta’s statements came while addressing a Trinamool Congress (TMC) event in Kolkata. She even questioned the appointment of Gyanesh Kumar as the Chief Election Commissioner of India. Mamta claimed, “How the BJP is manipulating voters’ list with the blessings of Election Commission is very much clear.”

Warning over an indefinite Dharna, TMC Chief was quoted saying, “If I can go for 26 days hunger strike (during the anti-land acquisition movement in 2006), then we can start a movement against the Election Commission too. If needed, we can go for dharna before the Election Commission’s office for an indefinite period to press for demand to correct voter rolls and remove fake electors.”

Mamta highlighted BJP’s Delhi and Maharashtra poll wins, allegedly through manipulation of the voter list. She said, “In Delhi and Maharashtra, the BJP had won elections by enrolling fake voters from Haryana and Gujarat. The party will bring these fake voters from Haryana and Gujarat and try to win elections in Bengal as the BJP know it can never win Bengal elections if polls are held in a free and fair manner.” She said that she will make sure that her party identifies the fake voters enrolled by the BJP in the voters list.

Mamta told the TMC workers, “We will not allow outsiders (BJP) to capture Bengal. What BJP has done in Delhi, can’t be repeated in Bengal. We will more than 215 seats out of 294 seats in the next Bengal assembly polls ensuring BJP’s tally comes down.”

During the meeting, Mamta also addressed the deportation of illegal immigrants from US tied in chains. She called it “shameful” and questioned why did the center not send planes to bring them back. She said, “Whenever elections approach, the BJP talks about infiltration, but our citizens are deported from the US in chains. Why? It is a matter of shame for the country.”
