Kolkata: West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has attacked the central government on the issue of Kisan agitation and Kisan Samman Nidhi. Mamata took a dig at PM Modi, claiming that his government had started the Krishak Bandhu scheme before the Kisan Samman Nidhi of the Center.
Mamata Banerjee said, 'Since it is the election phase, PM Modi is talking a lot about Bengal these days. As far as the Kisan Samman Nidhi is concerned, the Center has started this scheme, but we started the Krishak Bandhu earlier.' The CM of Bengal said, 'Every small farmer is entitled to our scheme, but it is not so in the Central scheme. To take advantage of the Centre's scheme, the farmer must have a minimum of 2 acres of land, due to which only 20 lakh farmers will be benefited in Bengal, while about 70 lakh farmers are benefited under the state government scheme.'
Mamata Banerjee said, 'I have written to the Center to send money to the state and we are ready to take it to the farmers, but they are insisting on direct transfer. They want to do this work themselves, bypassing the state government. This is his political intention.
