Kolkata: The West Bengal government has lifted the lockdown in the state in view of NEET exam. The government announced a lockdown across the state on September 11, 12, but on Thursday, CM Mamata Banerjee announced the withdrawal of lockdown on 12th September. It has been decided to conduct the NEET exam on 13th September in view of the convenience of the students.

In a tweet on Thursday by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, it was written that the state government had declared a lockdown on September 11-12. But on the 13th, there is NEET exam, which led to an appeal from the students to slack the lockdown so that they can reach the exam centres. Mamata Banerjee wrote that the government has withdrawn the September 12 lockdown in view of the convenience of the students. However, there will be a lockdown on 11th September. Students will now be able to reach the exam centre easily on the 13th of this month in the state.

Mamata Banerjee had been among the chief ministers of states who criticised the conduct of NEET-JEE examinations amid the corona pandemic. The petition was also filed in the apex court along with other states.  The Mamata government's decision was also immediately countered by the BJP. In a tweet, Amit Malviya wrote that the Mamata government has finally withdrawn its decision after receiving pressure from students and the BJP. We now hope that the NEET exam can be conducted properly.
