Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said in Kolkata that PM Modi should give the green signal to hold bypolls within a week. She hopes that if PM Modi says so, the Commission will agree to hold by-elections within a week.

Mamata's party had shocked everyone by taking more than 200 seats in the last assembly elections but lost in Nandigram assembly seat. As per the rules, she will have to be elected from an assembly seat within six months. Otherwise, she will not be able to hold the post of Chief Minister. Mamata today said that corona cases have come down drasticy now. Mamata Banerjee says that even when the covid cases in Bengal were more than 30 percent, elections were being held, what is the problem now?

Mamata said bypolls can be held in 1 week if PM Modi wants to. Meanwhile, Bjp MP John Barla on Wednesday once again demanded a separate Union Territory comprising the districts of North Bengal.
