Mumbai: A man allegedly murdered his wife and daughter with the help of a girlfriend. The police found partially burnt bodies of 30-year-old wife and 3-year-old daughter of the deceased at their residence on Thursday.

The Man was identified as 38-year-old Ilyas Sayed and his girlfriend is identified as 22-year-old Afreen Sayed. Ilyas and Tehsin married six years ago and two daughters. Tehsin returned home after dropping her elder daughter to school on Thursday morning.

As per the reports, Ilyas slit the throats of his wife and younger daughter. After Ilyas left home, Afreen came to the flat disguising her identity by wearing a burkha, niqab and gloves. She used cooking oil to burn the bodies and destroy evidence.

Additional commissioner of police, Ravindra Shishve said that the couple used to fight regularly due to Ilyas’ relationship with Afreen which could have been a reason behind the crime. He also said Afreen used the deceased woman's mobile phone to send Ilyas a message to stage the incident like a suicide. She used the staircase of the building to escape the eyes of other residents. After throwing her burkha near Five Gardens, she returned home. Both the accused confessed to having committed the crime. They would be produced before a local court on Saturday.
