Muzaffarnagar, Police arrested the man for allegedly raping his 12-year-old daughter in Civil Lines area.

SHO, Civil Lines Police Station, Chanderkiran Yadav said that a case has been registered against the father on the complaint of the victim's mother.

The accused had threatened to kill his daughter if she opened the matter in front of anyone.

The number of reported rape cases in India have been steadily rising over the past decade as rape is the fourth most common crime against women in India.

Indian parliamentarians have stated that the rape problem in India is being underestimated because large number of cases are not reported, even though more victims are increasingly coming out and reporting rape and sexual assaults.
