The police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a mentally challenged girl in Harwan area of Srinagar.

The police spokesman as per the sources news said The family of the victim complained on Tuesday alleging that she was raped but her mental condition does not allow her to properly narrate her ordeal.

"On this information, the medical examination of the girl was carried which confirmed rape," he said.

A case under sections 366 (abduction) and 376 (rape) of the Ranbir Penal Code was registered against the accused at Harwan police station, the spokesman said.
