The detained person is identified as 30-year-old Pruthviraj from Bihar and the police are also in search of his accomplice Sameer Kumar. As per police police, the accused first came to Bangalore ten years ago from Bihar and worked as an electronic materials dealer. He and wife were married in 2021.

During the marriage, her parents had maintained that she was 28 years old, but later on , Pruthviraj found out that she was 10 years older than him.

The couple frequently argued about this matter. The victim had also begun studying for the UPSC, for which she needed to travel to Delhi. Her spouse also questioned her about her phone conversations with her pal.
He hired a Zoom car that was driven by his sidekick and took her on a tour to Malpe Beach in the Udupi area. He tried to kill her in the hotel room, then at the beach, but he couldn't.

On August 2, however, the accused carried out his plan upon his return to Bengaluru. In the car, he killed her by suffocating her with her dupatta. He afterwards discarded her dead in the nearby woodland before going back home. He confessed to killing her after being grilled by the police.
