Bangalore: Following the arrest of a man from Bengaluru for allegedly threatening Maharashtra cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray, the state government said on Thursday that a SIT will be formed to investigate threats made to legislators and others, as well as a policy to deal with such situations.

 The man who threatened Thackeray, named as Jaisingh Rajput, was captured in Karnataka by the Mumbai crime branch's cyber unit and transported to Mumbai, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil stated in the Legislative Assembly. Rajput allegedly called Aaditya Thackeray on December 8, but the latter did not receive the call, according to a police official. Following that, the accused sent the minister threatening text messages. The Environment and Tourism portfolios are held by Aaditya Thackeray, the son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

The caller's mobile number was traced to Bengaluru in neighbouring Karnataka during the investigation. As a result, a team was dispatched to Bengaluru, where the accused was apprehended, according to the official. He was then taken into arrest by the police after being brought before a judge. According to the official, the accused was an admirer of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
