On Sunday, the Arcot town police, Vellore has booked a man on the grounds of attempting to rape a 6-year-old girl. According to the reports, the incident took place at the marriage hall on Thursday. 

According to the reports, the incident took place on Thursday night while the girl along with her mother went to attend a reception party. The party was held in the private marriage hall located in Arcot. A native of Katpadi, both the mother and daughter spent the night in the marriage hall. They slept in the hall as they were supposed to attend the wedding rituals the next day. 

The accuse, Manikandan aka Appu too had come to attend the wedding reception party. The man is also reported to live in the same Katpadi locality. Before attempting to rape, he saw the girl sleeping next to her mother. Being in an intoxicated condition, Manikandan abducted the minor girl and hence took her to the terrace building. On the location, the accused tried to rape her after placing a piece of cloth in her mouth. But according to the police reports stated in TOI, the minor girl managed to escape from the clutches of the man, rushed to her mother and told her everything.

Police says that the accuse Manikandan managed to fled the spot. After the complaint from the victim's mother, on Sunday, the Arcot Town police registered a case against Manikandan and launched a hunt for the absconding accused.
