Man smuggling gold worth 27 lakhs caught at Mumbai airport

A man on the international security check on Mumbai Airport was found to carry gold powder covered inside the belt worth rupees 27 lakh.

This incident happened on Tuesday at around 8 pm  when a passanger named Shajeer, going through a security check before passing to terminal 2 of the domestic flight,the inspector suspected his weighted belt, to which it was found that there was an internal space in the belt, a gold gel kind of material was sealed in plastic and then put up inside the belt.

The gold material was gold powder mixed with a liquid of about 960 grams worth more than 27 lakh rupees. This gold was being smuggled from the Middle east.

Shajeer came from Riyadh via jet airways flight 9W 523 and had a connecting flight to Kozhikode .

During the security check, CISF inspector Prahant Kumar recognized some bluff.

The man was later send to the police custody for further trials and investigations.

Every year various materials, such as drugs, cocaine, gold, electronics and other material goods are imported to India illegally hiding from the security checks, these needs to be stopped and Airport security must me strick to make sure that no goods are imported illegally to make up their business.
