Gumla: A youth was hacked to death by 8 to 10 persons in Gumla on the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh border. The case is of the Govindpur-Barkadi area of the police station area. Boys from Chhattisgarh have been accused of murder. The deceased, Ejaz Ansari, was a resident of Tigra village in Jari. He is said to have criminal cases registered against him in several police stations of Gumla.
At the same time, some people are calling it mob lynching. But the police are refraining from speaking on this whole incident. Police said assistance has been sought from Chhattisgarh's Jashpur police in the case. On the other hand, after the murder incident, the family members of the deceased created a lot of ruckuses and refused to lift the body. The family was demanding the arrest of the culprits and calling the Gumla SP to the spot. The body was lying on the spot till late in the night. In this case, Ejaz's family has lodged a complaint in the police station, making Satish Oraon, Lalsay Oraon and other persons of Chhattisgarh named criminals.
Sarwar, brother of the deceased, said that Ejaz had gone to Patratoli in Chhattisgarh. He was having a dispute with the boys there. The same boys have killed Ejaz by attacking him with sticks and rods. His motorcycle was found burnt in Patratoli. Police said Ejaz had gone to jail in other cases, including theft. He has criminal cases registered against him at Jari, Palkot and Dumri police stations of the district. The investigation into the case is currently underway.
