A US man has been given a life term after he killed his family before he tried to feed them the cooked heart of another woman he murdered.
A man from Oklahoma who killed two other people, including a kid, before cutting out the heart of one of them has been given a life term in jail. After entering a guilty plea to the murders of Andrea Blankenship, 41, Leon Pye, 67, and Kaeos Yates, 4, Lawrence Paul Anderson, 44, was sentenced to prison.
According to the prosecution, Anderson killed Blankenship and severed her heart before cooking it with potatoes at his aunt and uncle's home. After killing his uncle and his four-year-old granddaughter, he attempted to serve it to his aunt Delsie Pye and uncle Leon Pye. The terrible attacks happened just a few weeks after Anderson was freed from jail as part of a state-wide attempt to commute sentences.
On three counts of first-degree murder, one count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and one act of maiming, Anderson entered a guilty plea. He was given five consecutive life sentences, each of which will be served in turn.
District Attorney Jason Hicks said, "There is information in the hands of my office as well as the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation that is so stunning, after I saw it, it kept me up at night for weeks.
"The deal is meant to make sure he never leaves the prison. Moreover, to make sure that these sentences cannot ever be changed. That was something that was very significant to the victims' families in this case as well as to my office.
In 2017, Anderson received a 20-year prison term for breaking the terms of his probation in a drug case.
Anderson was released after serving a little over three years in prison after Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt shortened the sentence to nine years in prison in 2019.
"Almost everything has been lost by these families. Delsie Pye was attacked at the same time that she lost her husband and one of her grandsons, as you might expect. And witnessed both of those folks die, watched Lawrence Anderson kill both of them," he said.
The family would continue to suffer, according to the prosecution, therefore they decided against seeking the death penalty.
