Man sentenced to two years jail for attempting to rape woman priest in UP

Muzaffarnagar, A man, who attempt to rape a woman priest in Titawi area in 2014, now has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by a fast track court.

Yesterday, Judge Rajiv Bharadwaj convicted Bablu, a native of West Bengal, under relevant sections of IPC and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on him.

Bablu tried to rape the priest near her cottage on June 1, 2014. Police arrested him following a complaint by the victim, as per the prosecution.

Sexual violence is notoriously difficult to measure, and there is no single source of data that provides a complete picture of the crime.

Perpetrators of sexual violence are less likely to go to jail or prison than other criminals.
