Friday, a video went viral of a man allegedly dragging a woman out of a computer centre in Malaut, the man identified as, Jagdeep Singh, 35, surrendered before a court Friday. He had been charged of rape and abduction on March 30.

He purportedly raped the 24 year old woman, who belongs to a scheduled Caste, on March 25 after taking her to Tappakhera village. His friend Sandeep Singh, who allegedly drove the car, was booked on charges of criminal conspiracy.

Malaut DSP Manvir Singh said, “Jagdeep was produced in a local court Saturday and remanded in police custody for three days.”

“The woman came to us on March 30 and we lodged an FIR under rape, abduction and criminal conspiracy charges. Jagdeep and Sandeep had absconded by then. We launched a search for them.” He added.
