Man arrested for threatening to kill Mukesh Ambani, to appear in court today

Mumbai: Vishnu Vidu Bhowmik, a 56-year-old jeweller, was arrested on Monday afternoon for allegedly threatening to kill the country's richest man Mukesh Ambani and his family by calling reliance hospital in Mumbai. At the same time, the accused will be produced in Girgaum court today (Tuesday). The big thing is that to confuse the police, he had threatened with the name Afzal.

The accused, Vishnu Vidu Bhowmik, was arrested from suburban Dahisar at 1.30 pm, about three hours after the threat call, a police official said. He runs a jewellery shop in south Mumbai and is originally from Tripura. Two cases have already been registered on this. Let me tell you that there was a conspiracy to kill Ambani in a similar way in February last year. Bhowmik called the landline number of Reliance Foundation Hospital in Girgaum nine times around 10.30 am and threatened to kill Ambani and his family. According to a preliminary investigation, Bhowmik has been accused of making similar calls in the past.

He has said that the police are questioning to know the motive behind making the call. However, the police are yet to ascertain whether the accused is mentally correct or not. A case under Section 506 (2) of the IPC was registered at the DB Marg police station in Mumbai for criminal intimidation.
