New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked states to send all government employees to every eligible house one day a week to deliver the message of full vaccination. "We're nearing the end of Covid-19 immunisation. Let us undertake a concerted effort to fully vaccinate the adult population by speeding up vaccination and boosting coverage ", Mandaviya stated.
During the meeting he chaired to review the status of Covid-19 vaccination in these states/UTs and progress under the 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign, the minister interacted virtually with Health Secretaries and senior officials from the Health Department from Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Puducherry.
Low vaccination coverage has been reported in these states and UTs. While India has 82 percent first-dose coverage and 43 percent second-dose coverage, Puducherry (66 percent, 39 percent), Nagaland (49 percent, 36 percent), Meghalaya (57 percent, 38 percent), and Manipur (54 percent, 36 percent) lag behind in both doses.
The Health Minister, reiterating that vaccination is the most effective weapon against the pandemic, urged states and UTs to work creatively with all stakeholders, including NGOs, faith-based organisations, religious leaders, community influencers, and other partners, to motivate and mobilise all eligible people to get fully vaccinated.
