New Delhi, India: On Wednesday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will virtually meet with health ministers from all states and union territories to review the 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign, which aims to ensure that all adults who have not received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine or are overdue for their second dose are vaccinated.
Mandaviya earlier announced 9 that Covaxin and Covishield have been recognised by 96 countries, and both COVID-19 vaccines have received an emergency use listing (EUL) from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The health ministers' meeting comes a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with district magistrates and health officials from over 45 districts in 12 states and union territories where COVID vaccine first-dose coverage was less than 50 percent on November 3. According to official figures, around 79.2 percent of India's adult population has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, with more than 37 percent of the country's 94 crore adult population receiving both doses.
Uttar Pradesh is at the top of the list of states that have given out the most COVID vaccine doses. Maharashtra is ranked second, with West Bengal, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh following closely behind. The 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign, which will run for a month, was recently launched by the Centre.
