At the same time, Kuldeep Kaur has alleged that Mandeep was being tortured right after the marriage. In fact, Kuldeep says that Mandeep got married in February 2015 and only after the marriage, the in-laws and Mandeep move to New York in the US and started torturing her. It is being said that Mandeep Kaur has two daughters and the in-laws were wanting a son but got two daughters. At the same time, after not getting Rs 50 lakh in dowry and having two daughters, Mandeep's husband and husband's family members started harassing her even more. In this video, which was allegedly recorded before the suicide, Mandeep said that my husband and my in-laws are responsible for my death. They didn't let me live. He has been assaulting me for the last 8 years. Apart from this, Mandeep Kaur is seen saying in the video that "I have endured the torture of my husband for the last 8 years thinking that he will improve one day but it did not happen. He has been beating me for the last 8 years. I made all the efforts. I am being abused every day. I can't stand the torture anymore. I ignored it and moved here (New York). But here too he started beating me, whether he was drunk or not. He continued his affair as well.''
An FIR has been lodged by Mandeep Kaur's father Jaspal Singh in the case accusing Mandeep Kaur's husband Ranjotvir Singh Sandhu, Ranjotvir's father Mukhtar Singh, mother Kuldeep Raj Kaur and brother Jasvir Singh of abetting the suicide. In fact, Ranjotvir is also accused of having an affair with another woman. Police of Najibabad police station in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh have registered a case under sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 498-A (domestic violence), 323, and 342 (punishment).
