Imphal: After 9 MLAs including Deputy CM Y Joy Kumar Singh left from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government in Manipur, Biren Singh's chair has come under threat. The Congress has appealed to Governor Najma Heptulla to call a special session of the Assembly for the floor test. The decision of the fate of the BJP government is in the court of the Governor and Raj Bhavan is still silent on the matter.

In its judgment on Thursday, the High Court has asked the assembly speaker not to give a decision on the 7 MLAs joining the BJP till Friday. On one hand, the equation of winning the Rajya Sabha seat from the hands of the BJP has deteriorated.

Amid the political crisis in Manipur, NPP chief Thangmilen Kipgen and Congress leader and former CM Okram Ibobi Singh met the governor on Thursday. Meanwhile, the NPP said that to bring a no-confidence motion against the N Biren Singh-led government, we have requested the governor to convene a special session of the assembly and also invite the newly formed Secular Progressive Front (SPF) to form the government.
