Manipur CM says government will not remain silent on killing of BJP worker, security personnel

N Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, has said that his government "would not remain silent catch the culprits" in Monday's shooting incident.

On Monday night, miscreants opened fire on a BJP worker and an IRBn security man, killing at least one of them. On Tuesday morning, Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh visited with the victims' relatives in the Samurou region of Imphal West district.

"Our government will not spare those engaged in the crime," Biren Singh said, while condoling the death of the BJP worker and security personnel.  "The government stands with the victims' families," he added. Abujam John, a BJP worker, and Sashikanta, an IRBn worker, have been identified as the two victims. Manipur agricultural minister O Lukhoi is said to be John's close buddy.

The Manipur agriculture minister is a sitting MLA from the Wangoi Assembly seat, which includes Samurou. While Abujam John, 59, died on the spot, Sashikanta died of his injuries on Tuesday morning at Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal.
