MANIPUR: In light of the violent incidents that tore through the east Indian state of Manipur, the chief minister of Manipur held an all-party meeting on Saturday. Congress, NPF, NPP, CPI(M), Aam Aadmi Party, and Shiv Sena were among those present. Ethnic and separatist organizations have been involved in decades of turmoil in the Manipur region.
"I am grateful to the All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) for getting in touch with me at this pivotal time and promising to give me all of their assistance in restoring peace to Manipur. I implore everyone in Manipur to refrain from using violence of any kind. Following the meeting, the chief minister tweeted that the state police and paramilitary had been given stern instructions to take action against anyone who disturbs the state's law and order.
