Manipur reports 340 fresh corona cases, 5 death in 24 hours

Imphal: Manipur on Friday reported 340 new corona cases, taking the coronavirus caseload in the northeastern state to 14,715.  Of the new cases, 304 cases 33 are Central Armed Police Force(CAPF) personnel. The Five more patients in Manipur succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday, taking overall death tally of the state to 109. Among the dead, three are from Imphal East district and one each is from Thoubal and Tamenglong districts.  Talking about recovery, 164 persons were discharged from 15 COVID care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.


The fresh corona cases were confirmed at 24 testing facilities including RIMS (16) and JNIMS(136) in the state. The new cases from the general population are from Imphal West (55), Imphal East (113), Noney (1), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (9), Chandel (20), Churachandpur (9), Senapati (12), Kangpokpi (3), Kakching (33), Tengnoupal (15), Tamenglong (19), and Ukhrul (8). All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place. The totla number of active and recovered cases are 3,361 and 11,245 respectively. The recovery rate is 76.41 per cent in the northern state.


Talking about cases in India, The country on Friday registered a spike of 65,126 cases, taking the total count of covide cases to 7,430,635, and the country's death toll reached 113,032. The upcoming months were going to be important in the battle against coronavirus because of the winter season and festivals.
