Imphal: Amid the ongoing political tussle in Rajasthan, today is a big day in terms of politics in the North East. Voting on the motion of confidence is to be held in the Manipur Assembly today. This floor test will determine the future of BJP's coalition government. CM of Manipur Biren Singh had moved a motion of confidence in the Assembly last Friday.

CM Biren Singh took this step when the state's opposition party Congress came up with a no confidence motion. The Manipur Congress has said that instead of accepting the motion of no confidence in the Congress, the confidence motion of the government has been approved in the assembly. Congress is confident of victory. The Congress has issued a whip to all its 24 MLAs to be present in the floor test.

The political struggle has been going on in Manipur for a long time. Some MLAs and ministers revolted with the BJP's coalition government. But this incident gave a big dent to the politics of the state. There was a political uproar even after the name of the BJP leader in the drug case. The opposition Congress also became active and brought a no-confidence motion in the Vidhan Sabha on 28 July. The Congress alleges that the government did not accept the opposition's demand for a CBI probe into the high-profile drug case as the BJP leader's name is appearing in it.
