The Manipur police have arrested three women cadres of insurgent group National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM).The Manipur police ommando on Saturday recovered a huge cache of explosives from the possession of the women. After geeting input that some NRFM cadres, police conducted a massive search operation in the area in Bhisnupur district. Manipur police initially arrested two women along with 0.32 live ammunition. Police said that on further interrogation, the two women cadres reportedly revealed their plan to plant explosives at Moirang market place under a senior functionary of the outfit.
The arrested women rebels have been identified as Zillarani and Elizabeth. They reportedly informed that a cache of explosives was hidden at the residence of another woman identified as Romita from Moirang Lamkhai. The police team recovered 9 gelatin sticks weighing 100 grams each; 41 detonators; 35 extortion notes of NRFM, wires, safety fuse from the residence of Romita.
The three women rebels were involved in the collection of funds for the underground organisation from shops in Moirang area. Police further added that the accused women were also allegedly involved in planting an improvised explosive device (IED) at Naya Naya hotel in Moirang on June 25 last year.
