New Delhi: Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi's Excise Policy case, received a major setback on Friday from the lower court. Delhi's special CBI court has rejected Sisodia's bail plea in this case. Manish Sisodia is about to appeal in the Delhi High Court against the decision of the lower court. In the excise case, Sisodia was taken into custody by the CBI on February 26. Along with the CBI, he is also facing the investigation of the Enforcement Directorate. Sisodia's judicial custody is going to end on April 5.

Prior to the CBI's argument, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said during the hearing of his bail plea in the trial court that keeping him in custody would not serve the purpose of the CBI. In this case, all the recoveries have already been done. Sisodia had said about this, 'I fully cooperated in the CBI investigation. When he called, appeared near him. He had also cited in his bail plea that he has deep roots in society due to being active in public life. Keeping this in mind, he is entitled to get bail.

On the other hand, CBI lawyer DP Singh had opposed Manish Sisodia's bail plea last week, saying that even if he were to be granted bail, he could influence the investigation. Their influence and interference are massive. The CBI had claimed that Sisodia said he had broken the phones because he wanted to upgrade, which is not true. In fact, he did it to end the chat. In such a situation, if he gets bail, he is going to destroy the evidence.
