New Delhi: Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Monday said Pfizer and Moderna have refused to sell the corona virus vaccine directly to the Delhi government and these companies have said they will only talk to the Centre. Sisodia said in an online briefing that while all 400 vaccination centres have been closed for people in the age group of 18 to 44 years after the vaccine was abolished in Delhi, covaxin centres for people above 45 years of age, health workers and front line workers have also been closed due to lack of vaccine.

Sisodia said vaccination is essential at present to protect people from corona virus and has spoken to Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson companies for the vaccine. He said, "Pfizer and Moderna have refused to sell us the vaccine directly and told us that they are talking to the Centre". While the Centre has not approved Pfizer and Moderna, they have been approved all over the world, and have been purchased by countries.

Sisodia further said that some countries purchased vaccines at the test level itself but India did not take any steps in this direction. "We refused to approve Sputnik in 2020 and approved it only last month," he added. Manish Sisodia urged the Central government to give war-footing approval to Pfizer and Moderna.
