New Delhi: Manish Tewari, the Congress MP, has filed an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, demanding compensation for farmers who died during a year-long struggle.

"I hereby give notice of my intention to ask for leave to move a motion for the adjournment of the House's business for the purpose of discussing a definite matter of urgent importance, namely:- The government recently decided to repeal three farm laws, namely the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, and the Ess Act," Tewari said in his notice.

Many farmers died as a result of the agitation's harsh weather, the state's alleged use of force, and violent attacks on farmers' lives, the incident in Lakhimpur Kheri where farmers were allegedly driven over by fast moving cars.
