Amritsar: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Shi'ad) has suffered a severe setback ahead of the Punjab assembly elections. Shiromani Akali Dal (Shi'ad) leader and current Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee President Manjinder Singh Sirsa joined the BJP in the presence of Leaders like Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Dharmendra Pradhan after meeting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday (December 1, 2021). Sirsa has resigned from the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee as soon as the BJP is suppressed.
After joining the BJP, Sirsa said, "Amit Shah and PM Modi have assured that all the issues of Sikhs should be resolved, but they have become political gifts. So, I am joining the BJP by resigning as the Chairman of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee. Earlier, Sirsa had posted his resignation on Twitter and wrote, "I express my gratitude to all the office bearers, members, employees and people who worked with me. I am resigning as Chairman of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and will not contest the forthcoming DSGMC. My commitment to serve my community, humanity and country will continue. '
Sirsa said through video that he is resigning from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee for personal reasons and will distance himself from the next election. He thanked the members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, the Sikhs of the country and the world, who have given them a lot of respect. He said, "Thank you to my members, well wishers who have supported me so far. '
