Legendary playback singer Manna Dey was born on this day. Manna dey's born on May 1, 1919, his real name was Prabodh Chandra dey. He was a singer from the industry who has given hit songs in many regional languages apart from Hindi. Listening to his songs still makes the mind chirp. Manna Dey, who made his debut in Hindi films with the film Tamannaah in  1942, gained real popularity with the song 'Upar Gagan Vishal' composed by S.D. Burman. After that, his journey continued till the year 2013. In the meantime, he recorded more than 4,000 songs, all of which are heartwarming. Be it the songs of the film Sri 420, be it the songs of the film Chori Chori, the songs of the film Time have been liked by all. Manna Dey was a fan of Rajesh Khanna. He had said, 'I like the way Rajesh Khanna picturises music.

Manna Dey passed away on October 24, 2013.
