Many flights and trains cancelled in Chennai due to Cyclone Nivar

Chennai: Life in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has been severely affected due to Nivar cyclonic storms from the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has predicted the storm to turn into a deadly cyclone. Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, has been raining continuously for the last 24 hours due to the storm, which has also directly affected trains and airlines.

It has been informed from Chennai Airport that 26 flights have been cancelled due to the storm. Some flights were to land in Chennai. The flights which were to go from here to other cities have also been cancelled after seeing the storm. A total of 26 flight cancellations have been given by the airport administration. Many trains have also been cancelled due to the storm. It has been reported from the Southern Railway that two trains have been cancelled on Wednesday, three on 26 November and one on 28 November.

South-Western Railway cancelled two trains scheduled on Thursday. Train number 06865/06866 Chennai-Thanjavur special train will be closed on 25 November. The number of trains cancelled are - 06232, 06188, 02898, 06231, 06187, 02084, 02083 and 02897. Railways have said that full refund will be given to the passengers of cancelled trains. The e-ticket will be automatically cancelled, while the counter ticket will have to be cancelled from the counter itself.
