Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that many jihadi terror modules are still active in Assam and the state police is working to expose these terror modules. Earlier on Saturday, the Assam Police arrested five people, including a Bangladeshi national, associated with a major Bangladeshi jihadist organization linked to Al Qaeda (AQIS) in the Indian subcontinent.

The arrested people have been identified as Mohammad Suman alias Saiful Islam alias Haroon Rashid Dhakliyapara, residents of Atadi village under Araihazar police station area of ​​Narayanganj district of Bangladesh, Khairul Islam of Balpathar village under Kalagachia police station in Barpeta district of Assam, Badshah Suleman Khan and Naushad Ali of Kharbali village under Kalgachia police station in Barpeta district and Taimur Rahman Khan of Dhakliyapara village under Howli police station in Barpeta district. CM Sarma told the media at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district that, in a major crackdown on terror, the Assam Police recently arrested five people of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda (AQIS) in the Indian sub-continent.

CM Sarma said that, 'We had formed a special wing to work against jihadi activities in Assam on the basis of secret information and Assam Police has caught a big terrorist module. We have a lot of work to do on this. As per our information, there are many terrorist modules active in Assam and we are preparing our sources. I would like to say that whatever the Assam Police has done to eliminate the Jihadi terror module, which is a great achievement.
