Market closing: Sensex sparkle 393 pt, Nifty at 15,790; RIL shares fall

Benchmark Sensex soared 393 points on Thursday, tracking gains in Infosys, TCS and HDFC Bank with a positive trend in global markets. At close, the BSE Sensx ended 392.92 points higher at 52,699, while the NSE Nifty gained 103.50 points to 15,790.45.

Infosys was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising over 3%, followed by TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech and Asian Paints. Conversely, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, PowerGrid and SBI were among the losers. About 1415 shares have advanced, 1717 shares declined, and 135 shares are unchanged.

Heavyweight Reliance Industries, meanwhile, was the top Sensex laggard, falling 2.35 percent even though the company's chairman Mukesh Ambani made a slew of announcements at the firm's 44th annual general meeting (AGM).

Meanwhile, the international oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.16% higher at $75.31 per barrel.

MCX Gold, Silver: On Multi Commodity Exchange, gold August futures were trading Rs 80 or 0.17 percent up at Rs 47,091 per 10 gram, as against the previous close of Rs 47,011. Silver July futures were trading at Rs 67,819 per kg. Silver futures ended at Rs 67,515 per kg in the previous session.
