Market Closing: Sensex sparkles 514 points; Nifty reclaims 17,500-mark

Indian equity benchmark  Sensex rallied 514 points on Tuesday, led by gains in Infosys, Bajaj Finance and ITC amid a positive trajectory tends in global markets. At close, The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)  ended 514.34 points or 0.88 percent higher at 59,005.27. Likewise, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE)  surged 165.10 points or 0.95 percent to 17,562.

Bajaj Finance was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, followed by IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra and Infosys. On the other hand, Maruti, Bajaj Auto, Nestle India, PowerGrid and Axis Bank were among the laggards.

thirteen of 15 sector gauges compiled by the NSE ended higher led by the Nifty Realty index's nearly 4 per cent gain. Nifty Pharma, Metal, Media, IT, FMCG and Financial Services indexes also rose between 0.8-2.6 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Auto and Consumer Durable indices closed lowe

In the international market, Hang Seng ended on a positive note, while Nikkei was in the red. Stock Exchange in China and South Korea were closed for holidays. Markets in Europe rallied over 1 percent in afternoon trade. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.96 percent to USD 74.63 per barrel.
