Market Mid-Noon: Sensex surges 568 pts; banking, auto stocks outperform

The Indian equities markets benchmark indices were trading strongly with the benchmark Sensex 568 points on the back of good buying support in banking and auto stocks. The 30 stock Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading at 58,363.19 points during mid-noon session ( around 1.00 pm), which is 568.87 points or 0.98 per cent higher from its previous day's close at 57,794.32 points. Sensex in the morning session opened in the positive at 57,849.76 points and surged to a high of 58,304.82 points.

The broader Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange was trading at 17,386.15 points, 1.06 per cent or 182.20 points higher from its previous day's close at 17,386.20 points.

In the early morning session, the Nifty opened positive at 17,244.50 points and reached a high of 17,359.30 points. In banking stocks, there was a lot of buying interest. The stock of Axis Bank climbed by 1.94 percent to Rs.682. The stock of State Bank of India gained by 1.67 percent to Rs.459.35. Kotak Bank rose by 2.01 percent to Rs.1790.85.

UltraTech Cement was up 3.25 percent at Rs.7638, Titan was up 3.15 percent at Rs.2513, Maruti Suzuki was up 2.04 percent at Rs.7433, Tata Steel was up 1.65 percent at Rs.1119.25, and Mahindra & Mahindra was up 1.65 percent at Rs.843.80.
