Stock in News: The Indian equity indexes halted a three-day winning streak on Thursday, trading lower in early dealings due to negative global cues. The benchmark BSE Sensex was down 178 points, or 0.30 percent, at 59,380 at 9:20 a.m., while the broader NSE Nifty was down 50 points, or 0.28 percent, at 17,731.
Asian stocks were mainly down, with the Nikkei index in Japan falling 1.11 percent and the Shanghai Composite index down 0.97 percent.
Mid- and small-cap stocks were trading in the red, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index down 0.54 percent and small-cap stocks down 0.08 percent.The leading Nifty laggard was Tech Mahindra, which fell 1.26 percent to 1,464.30. Among the laggards were IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, and HCL Tech.
Tata Consumer Products, Titan, Asian Paints, Indian Oil Corp, and BPCL, on the other hand, were among the winners. On the BSE, the overall market breadth was positive, with 1,511 shares rising and 967 falling.
